U4GM Forza Horizon 6: Why Barn Finds Unlock 15 Cars
Japan's Barn Finds in Forza Horizon 6 ask for more than a bit of wandering and good luck. You'll still get that lovely "I've found something" feeling, but the real path runs through the Discover Japan Collection Journal. If you're building a garage of rare FH6 Cars, you'll need stamps first, then rumours, then a bit of patient searching. It's a tighter system, and honestly, it makes the big finds feel earned rather than handed over.
How the stamp system opens barns
The old Festival-rank style unlock is gone. Barn rumours now appear as you climb seven Discover Japan tiers, starting with Visitor and ending at Master Explorer. Early on, you'll only see one or two leads. By the middle tiers, the map starts to open up quickly. Stories are usually the fastest way to push progress, while street races, touge runs, photo stops, food deliveries, Drift Club events, mascots, day trips, upgrades, and collection goals all help as well.
Quick route checklist
- Clear yellow Story events first, because they tend to move stamp progress faster.
- Use ANNA or drone view once you're inside a search zone.
- Group nearby barns together instead of jumping across the whole map.
- Reach Pathfinder early, as it unlocks a big mid-game batch.
- Don't rush every restoration; save skips for cars you'll actually drive.
That last point matters. A dusty car isn't usable straight away. Once found, it goes off for restoration, and the wait depends on the vehicle. Paying to speed it up is handy, but it's not always worth it for a novelty pick.

The order is fixed by tier, even if the exact moment you chase each rumour can feel a little different depending on your route and activity choices.
Where to look on the Japan map
Ohtani has three barns, including the NSX-R GT near a southern river valley, the Porsche tucked into bamboo by road splits, and the R390 GT1 around the Ohtani-Shimanoyama border. Ito is busier, with the Toyota 2000GT by the coast, the Sierra near a wooded hill, the Diablo downhill from a junction, and the Super Silhouette on a southwestern dirt path. Nangan holds the Skyline 2000GT-R, Minamino hides the Pao, Hokubu has the Lincoln, Takashiro contains the Pennzoil GT-R and Mazda 787B, while Shimanoyama covers the Peugeot, Montero Evolution, and Lancer Time Attack.
Which finds are worth chasing first
If you're picking favourites, the Mazda 787B, Nissan R390 GT1, and Honda NSX-R GT are the headline acts. They've got history, rarity, and plenty of tuning appeal. The Skyline models, Peugeot 205 T16, Porsche 911 Turbo, and Sierra RS500 are also strong garage pieces. The Pao? Not fast, but it's charming. Spend carefully, and if you use cheap FH6 Credits to speed restoration, save that choice for the machines you'll take back onto the road straight away.
