MMOexp Diablo 4: Don't sleep on them for speed farming
Summary
Paladins received some love this season with item buffs, but they remain in the middle-to-bottom tier. While Lancer is the best option for Diablo 4 Gold general content, Hammer Clash is a bossing-only niche.
The Surprise: Don't sleep on them for speed farming, though. Wing Strike is surprisingly efficient for T120 content, proving that even the "worst" classes have a place in the meta.
The Broken Machine: Spiritborn's Technical Woes
The Verdict: Bugged, not buffed.
Spiritborn suffers from the same issue as last season: half the skill tree mechanics simply don't work. Tags are broken, interactions are bugged, and the devs haven't fixed it. There is potential here, but until the technical issues are resolved, it remains in "playable but frustrating" territory.
The Slow Burn: Warlock's Power Problem
The Verdict: Big damage, sluggish delivery.
Warlocks hit hard, but they take forever to actually deal that damage. The mobility is atrocious, and setting up combos requires too many buttons.
The Silver Lining: Minion Warlock is surprisingly the highest-ranked build, and Lunatic/Apocalypse builds are still popular. However, when 90-second Pit clears are considered "record pace," you know the class is clunky. You won't be breaking any speed records here.
Specialized Tier Lists: Match the Build to the Goal
Choosing the right class depends entirely on what you want to achieve in Sanctuary.
Push Tier List (The Highest Pit Clears)
The Contenders: Barbarian and Rogue dominate the top spots, but Warlocks are surprisingly high here thanks to Stinger Spiral.
The Ceiling: Most classes will cap out in the 130–140 Pit range. Don't expect any Pit 150 clears this season.
Bossing Tier List (Single-Target DPS)
The Shift: Speed doesn't matter here; raw damage does.
Necromancers jump up the rankings because they don't need to move fast; they just need to hit hard.
The Equality: Many builds catch up to the top classes when focusing purely on single-target encounters, making bossing the most balanced category.
Speed Farming Tier List (Efficiency is King)
The Winners: Barbarians and Rogues naturally lead, but Paladins shock the rankings here! Wing Strike offers fantastic clear speeds, and Divine Lance isn't far behind.
Necromancer's Folly: Sever Necro has infinite teleports, but gets stuck on every wall and object in the dungeon, making it frustrating to play.
Season 14's Biggest Meta Shift: The Pelgane Nerf
We cannot stress this enough: The Signate of Pelgane scaling has been removed for everyone except Rogues.
This was the crutch that allowed many classes to push high tiers in Season 13. With this mechanic deleted for Barbarians, Druids, and Sorcerers, we expect a massive shake-up in the Push tier list. Expect movement across all rankings as the community discovers new optimizations in the coming days.
Final Verdict: Your Season 14 Starter Guide
Season 14 is the Barbarian and Rogue show. If you want the easiest, most powerful experience, pick one of these two.
For the Casual Player: Whirlwind Barb is the ultimate one-button, brain-off power fantasy. It requires low investment and delivers maximum results.
For the Veteran: The Rogue offers the best toolkit for speed farming and the most varied gameplay. You'll never get bored.
For the Masochist: Try pushing with a Spiritborn (waiting for D4 Items fixes) or a Warlock (if you enjoy clunky movement).
For the Loyalist: Druid is decent; Necromancer is a one-trick pony; Sorcerer and Paladin are playable but struggling.
